What's a less common #German #fountainpen and where might I find one in #Berlin? I mean, apart from the usual suspects of Kaweco, Lamy, and Pelikan, and in the price range of the former two.

@vwbusguy As for shops, Luiban is a short walk from Alexanderplatz and they have lots of great notebooks and cool stationery.
-
@vwbusguy You might still find an old GeHa. They were produced until the 1980s, I used one in primary school.

@vwbusguy I have a couple of very collectible Rotring 600s, but it looks like they don't have a fountain pen in their range these days. Their 600 and 800 series mechanical pencils (and ballpoints) are amazing if that also interests you. Real engineering drawing heritage, great brand.

@chris Yeah, I already have a Sport, Perkeo, and a Liliput, the latter I use very often.
-
@sanityinc @vwbusguy They're nice pens, but also some of the heaviest ones I have...
-
@janhelms I actually have one I got at an antique store in Pasadena a few years back.

@vwbusguy I love the Sports!
Kaweco Sport eyedropper pen conversion
I first discovered the easily-pocketable trompe l'oeil on a folding table at a Berlin outdoor market and have been in love ever since, especially once I learned that you can convert the Kaweco Classic Sport from cartridge to having all the ink in the world using the eyedropper pen conversion.

@girlinblack That looks promising!

@vwbusguy Went to buy Lamy fountainpens from Papeterie Heinrich Künnemann Nachf. on Uhlandstraße for a couple of Chinese visitors once and was well advised on that occasion. They probably carry different brands too.

@girlinblack I have to sheepishly admit that I already own most of the pens they stock.
-
@rex Looks like they stock the Caran d'Ache Metall. The Faber-Castell Ambition looks an awful lot like a Faber Castell I have under a different name and I'm curious about it. It's on the other side of Berlin from where I'm staying but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it'll give me a chance to get out and see more of the city.

@chris I'm particular to my copper Kaweco Liliput. I never leave the house without it.
-
@vwbusguy Caran d'Ache is not German though ...
To be honest, I don't think it's worth it to traverse the whole city just for that. Just search for a nearby "Papeterie" on GoogleMaps. If you're near Alexanderplatz, Luiban on Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße is another one that comes to my mind. -

@rex I hope you'll forgive me that as an American, ending up with a Swiss pen doesn't lessen the novelty for me.
I looked at that one but it had less of a selection and I already have most of what they sell.

@rex Google Maps is disappointing. Plenty of stationary shops, but not all sell fountain pens and if they do, many just have a few basic Lamy, at least from what I can tell between Google Maps pictures and from their websites.

I've done some digging and found out about "Super 5" #fountainpens. I haven't heard of these before. There's an art supply store in the Kreuzberg area that seems to carry the fountain pens and ink.
Who would have thought that I would be putting 3 years of #German in high school to use reading websites I found on Google maps looking for fountain pens?

I'm particularly curious about the flex nib.
I assume since it mentions Pelikan cartridges that it should take standard international converters.
If someone had experience with these, how is the ink flow on the flex nib?

@sanityinc @ggmartin Any experience with "Super 5" fountain pens?
