@octothorpe they still have deep-fried McDonald’s pies in the UK. And Hawaii, often with a flavour unique to the state, like haupia.
I don’t think they use beef tallow anymore though.

@octothorpe I wonder how difficult it would be to do it at home? I'm not much of a chef, let alone a baker but I do watch like an hour of YouTube shorts every day which often end up as cooking stunts …
Frying stuff at home is aggravating because it needs so much oil and then you're not really gonna do it again tomorrow …

@pmcg they’re ostensibly fried hand-pies. They’re pretty simple to make, but yeah, there’s a lot of prep/stuff if it’s not something you do often (ie: deep fry stuff).
I do annually make really epic-level apple pies, and give them away to some local folks who are working during thanksgiving/xmas… it’s a ludicrous amount of work, and I do not recommend it.
