While new milestones of the total users in the fediverse are always celebrated, I think the number of monthly active users is more interesting. Many users create an account, few are staying active (~10%).

The current wave of new users doesn't feel that big compared to when Musk took over Twitter. Maybe it's because it mostly affects Pixelfed.

However, the MAU reported by Fedidb is around 1.35M right now, more than a third increase compared to last month! That's a lot.
