I'm trying to set up a #webfinger alias here:
https://standiford.us/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected]The intent is to use this site here:
https://www.alexstandiford.com/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected]Ultimately I'm trying to use [email protected] for my online presence and basically have that be an alias for my [email protected].
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong though - everything seems correct but Mastodon can't locate me at @alex, only @alex
Anyone have any ideas?

@pfefferle Maybe it just got held up in cache. I think when I do @alex it seems to work now, but it ends up changing it to `[email protected]` instead

It is so weird though...I can't find my profile when I search for `@alex` at all

@alexstandiford @alex sadly mastodon does not support redirecting or proxying of WebFinger handles

@pfefferle @alex Okay so I actually did everything right, Mastodon is just like "nope"
That's a shame.
Any ideas on how I can make it work?

@alexstandiford @alex yes, mastodon follows all redirects and uses the latest handle in the stack.

@alexstandiford @alex this is a nice debugging tool, that shows what data mastodon uses: https://browser.pub/[email protected]
you can see the webfinger in the result is the other domain
