@bartvdpoel @wdlindsy J.D. Vance is too extreme even for the Catholic bishops: https://eu.dispatch.com/story/news/state/2024/09/19/haitian-immigrants-springfield-catholic-bishops-vance-ohio/75293214007/ .
Which reveals the contingent within Catholicism that Vance belongs to.

@wdlindsy @inthehands Being a former-Catholic atheist:
It is no longer surprising, but remains striking, to encounter people like J.D. Vance who profess to have once been atheists but then re-associated themselves with the most extreme parts of Catholicism for the sake of bigotry and authoritarianism.

@wdlindsy Do these deadheads ever wonder if some people might want to make America red again?
I can only imagine what native Americans must think of stupid white people wanting to make things 'great' or 'white' again... -

âThe sexual act cannot be made into an egalitarian pleasuring party. A man penetrates, conquers, colonizes, plants. A woman receives, surrenders, accepts.âThat's the core of half of it. The other half being racism.

Check out this fawning sophomoric panegyric on Erik Prince at the TheoBro "American Reformer" rag.It's got that amazing "I hope Mr. Prince sees this" dork energy. Wow.
The first paragraph alone is pure Tom Cruise '80s movie Duke Football pre-game preppy. Reads like a high-school honors essay at a suburban Dallas Christian academy.
Have a quick peek and you can throw in your own descriptors.

@DoesntExist Erik Prince â of all people. Another of those right-wing opportunist-operatives like JD Vance who has chosen Catholicism in its hard-right theocratic iteration. And rooted in the Calvinism that sustains the TheoBros, as is his sister Betsy DeVos, another piece of work.

@greenpete Yes, imagine trying to run these arguments about to whom America belongs by the native peoples of the country.
