I wouldn’t join such a local thing - signal to noise ratio isn’t great and chat fatigue from work (eg slack) is a real thing. Group chats with my neighbours are bad enough, I can’t imagine scaling it up.

I think things like discord are pretty polarizing: people tend to love it or hate it.
