Blog post for Mastodon 4.3 is prepared. There's going to be another beta and then a release candidate next week but then we're good to go. I'm looking forward to concluding that work stream.

We've been continuosly rolling out updates to mastodon.social over the past 11 months, which is good for getting stuff out there, but it's easy to lose track of individual improvements that way, so it'll be nice to put everything together for once.

@Gargron
Will this also fix the almost impossibly skinny scrollbar for people who really need a scrollbar? -
@pascaline @Gargron I can see that an issue exists for this, but it was only reported in GitHub yesterday (unless there is another one that I am missing, which is possible). I can’t confirm whether this is directly addressed in 4.3 yet, but it is on the radar at least. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/31917

@Gargron PLEASE, as an admin, let us set post-length limits in the admin settings. Every single update overwrites the manual override and the 500-char limit is arbitrary.

@oliphant @Gargron I’m not using those though and I’m not about to re-do my entire instance to reestablish it on a fork. TBH this attribute should’ve been an admin option for a long time. No reason it can’t exist, especially when manually altering the value & recompiling is the only blocker. Mastodon and ActivityPub easily handle it.
