The Bluesky bridge is fine, really.

The Bluesky bridge is fine, really. After an initial outcry, it was updated to work exactly the way it should: mutual opt-in. If all posts were bridged by default, defederating/blocking bridgy would have been the only relationship some instances would have been comfortable with, and it was why I initially blocked the bridge as well.
But you can follow bridged accounts from Bluesky, without yourself turning on your posts and opting-in to having an account mirrored on Bluesky. And similarly, it's not just some birdsitelive thing--users on Bluesky have opted-in to having their posts visible through the bridge.
If you block the bridge, all your content gets deleted on the other side. Those are all exactly the kind of consent-first integrations I'd like to support with the fedi or the "social web" in general.
Still on the fence about bridging to Bluesky myself, but I respect that the option exists for others.
