Ah, it's 'good' to see that Google's spam filters are starting to fuck up royally.
I got one of those "Here's a receipt for your transaction" emails with attached PDF direct to the inbox this morning. They used to go straight into the spam folder with a giant warning on them.
-
@octothorpe I've gotten a few of those last month or so.
-
@ultranurd Given PS/DPS are touring complete (sandbox or no), there's zero way I'm even going to open those up in the browser… but I am curious as to what they contain.
-
@octothorpe Seems everything old is new again? Good spam filtering was one of things I regretted leaving when I moved email off Google.
My current host uses SpamAssassin which is just as "smart" (ie: dumb) as it was in 2001. It is imperfect, but it's good enough for my inbox.
-
@troublewithwords TBH, the thing I'm possibly looking forward to in the new apple OSs is the 'ai inbox filtering' like gmail has.
Although I am 90% certain regular ol' Bayesian filtering would work better/just as well.
At one point I asked @mjtsai about the possibility of extending Spam Sieve to do other categorisations, as I thought it'd be amazing, but it's also probably a niche desire.
-
@octothorpe @troublewithwords SpamSieve should be able to handle those receipt spams, as it can look inside PDFs. I’ve not forgotten the idea of additional categorizations, and the new storage architecture is designed to enable that.

@mjtsai @troublewithwords Oooooooh!! ::anticipation intensifies::
