@interfluidity @ryanlcooper I was doing work for the US Dept of Labor — specifically the office tasked with enforcing the Migrant & Seasonal Worker Protection Act — in the 2010s when GA briefly passed their idiotic anti-immigrant nonsense the last time we went through this.
When crops rotted in the fields they quietly undid it.
It wasn’t (just) that nobody wanted to work that hard for those wages; it’s also incredibly skilled work that demands particular attention to the biomechanics.
