Waiting right now at Nanoose Bay (across from Canadian Forces base CFMTR) for word on Philippine leaving Pat Bay #yyj to try to come back home to #PortAlberni for Christmas (and likely more extensive repairs) before another attempt to go South. She may land here if needed.

The weather is not terrible, but there is a stiff S or SE breeze, whitecaps on the Bay. Ceiling is reasonably high but probably not good enough to get into the Alberni Valley.

2/ Lots of activity visible on the PatBay webcam around the Mars so either they are getting ready to leave, or they are all going home. Should know either way pretty soon. They don’t stay in the plane long if they’re not there for nothing.

Weather here in Nanoose Bay is deteriorating. Now raining and breeze continuing to increase.

@jerome old engines doing old engine things They made an attempt but an engine blew a cylinder so they aborted. Now it looks like they won’t try to go south again until the new year

4/ Activity continues on the water at Pat Bay. Indications are it will take off soon. The weather in Nanoose Bay near Parksville where she is expected to land is showers off and on with a Southerly breeze.

@chris Since this was to have been her final move out of Alberni, is there still parts/maintenance there to fix problem is is Pat Bay now the same as Nanoose Bay in terms of facilities and access to parts to fix it?

There was a fire in #4. Apparently accumulation of oil in the cylinders is common when they do a cylinder change. NBD. Just a smoke show. But it sounds like that was the last chance before Christmas to move back to Sproat Lake.
