Enmax's OWN website shows how ridiculous their fees are. They show an example bill that shows $33.85 of electricity used, offset by a $32.19 credit for power they generated through solar. Sounds good so far, right?
Wrong! Somehow, the total bill is $59.51. 🤯 Let's break this down: the bulk of our bills is made up of "administration fees," "transmission costs," and "distribution charges."
This isn't just nickel-and-diming; it's a full-blown cash grab. How is this okay???? #Alberta #YYC

@jace I mean, it makes sense that there is some cost of admin/distribution that isn't cancelled out by uploading power. But, IMO, it shouldn't add up to as much or more than the typical usage. And it should be more clear.
My ideal bill would be something like
Monthly account connection / metering fee (flat amount, not more than $15)
Electricity used, power cost (per kWh)
Electricity used, distribution cost (per kWh)
Electricity supplied, power cost (credit, same per kWh rate as for power used) -

@AmeliasBrain Fully agree. They're a business and should still make profit. But fees should never amount to more than the actual cost. Ever. That's just misleading pricing and marketing at that point.

@jace @AmeliasBrain is the City of Calgary the sole shareholder of Enmax like Edmonton is sole shareholder of Epcor?

@chad @jace @AmeliasBrain coming from BC, this kind of areangement is absolutely baffling to me. If BCHydro was ever threatened with privatization I might just get a pitchfork.
