"Donald Trump intensified his politics of nativism and xenophobia on Friday by announcing a sweeping plan to deport Venezuelans he claimed have 'infected' a once-peaceful city in Colorado."

these haters gonna be sorry if they chase out our immigrants because there are going to be PLENTY of other countries where people can be rebuilding

@wdlindsy and yet the Biden/harris response is “we deported more people than they did! We actually passed the Republican immigration plan!” I cannot emphasize enough how harmful centrism in America is when it’s call to action is “we’re like republicans but competent!”

@wdlindsy yes. Central and Mexican immigrants rebuilt NOLA after Katrina.

@mbwood They absolutely did. Our cities would shut down and experience total chaos and hardship if immigrants were suddenly deported, as Trump promises and millions of Americans lust to see. The economy would be gutted.

@LaNaehForaday I agree. We never see trees being trimmed or taken down without seeing that all the workers are Hispanic men. It's the norm. Ditto for the hard work of street repair, and for most of the lawn and garden work in our area. Houses all through my neighborhood are cleaned by Hispanic women.
The country would shut down in an instant if all the immigrants in it were deported. And the economy would totally crash.

@virtualinanity Anyone who imagines that the Democrats represent a greater threat to immigrants than the Republicans is either sadly misinformed or wants to do the Republicans' work for them. I refuse to listen to that kind of misleading analysis designed to tear away at the Democrats while ignoring the real problem, which is the Republicans.

@peachfront Absolutely. Our cities would come to a halt, the economy would crash. There's always a high price to be paid for unleashing social hatreds, and the people doing the hating usually end up paying that price.

And aside from ALLLL of that, they all seem to be EXCEEDINGLY nice. The nicest, kindest people you would ever want to meet. And we trust them implicitly with all kinds of our details like giving us FOOD and taking care of our children. -

@wdlindsy @LaNaehForaday not to mention they are decent human beings who not only contribute to a society they are part of, they helped create it

"Singling out an ethnic minority with “bad genes,” blaming them for crimes and other depraved acts, pushing for violence, and advocating for rounding up that minority and putting them in camps to get rid of them. There is not a single inch of daylight between the agenda as laid out in 1930s Germany by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party and Donald Trump and the Republican Party in America today."

@wdlindsy the Canadians should be getting nervous.
How long before Trump demands “lebensraum” and annexes Canada?

@Wallyapplebee @LaNaehForaday Absolutely. In my experience, most of these immigrant folks are hard-working, honest, have a strong sense of family, and contribute enormously to our society both economically and culturally.

@LaNaehForaday Yes, absolutely. I think right away of my niece living in an affluent part of Connecticut, whose three children are being raised by two Latin American women who also do housework for my niece. Nicer, more honest and kind women would be hard to find, and it amuses me to see my little great-niece and two great-nephews speaking Spanish as easily as they speak English, since Spanish is spoken to them all day when they're not at school.

@wdlindsy @peachfront In the Biden debate, watch closely - Trump slams immigration and Biden responds "we have the greatest economy in the world" -- he meant this in relation to the influx of hard working people

@wdlindsy When the fuck is this country going to wake up to the malfeasance trying to corrupt the entire Nation? ‘Immigrants are evil! The cause of all our problems!’ Such BULL SHIT.
How can Presidential polls be practically even? We’ve either got a lot of STUPID or a lot of Co-conspirators who are ok with the dismantling of our Democratic Republic based completely on lies and dark Donny fantasies. 🤬 -

@LaNaehForaday Me, too. They're being raised with great affluence and privilege, and I'm hoping close contact with some good Latinas will help them see some different perspectives to analyze the world around them.
