"On the same day that Trump declared he had the right to interfere in a presidential election to put himself in power, the pro-Trump owner of X, Elon Musk, reposted to his nearly 200 million followers a statement suggesting that women and men who can’t...

@wdlindsy Hey, remember when Musk was going to sqaure off against Zuck in a cage fight? Whatever happened to that?
-
William Lindsey :toad:replied to Gerard Cunningham ✒️ last edited by
@faduda I reckon Musk has been too busy doing alpha-male stuff like fathering more children to populate the world with superhuman demigods like himself.

@bytebro Indeed. And we'll see how much that much-vaunted "rationality" amounts to.

@samhainnight Thanks for the link. I look forward to reading the article.

@AndyDeardentsa Thank you. Yes, I had seen that good article yesterday, and you're exactly right, it's a good explanation of this point. I need to add a link to it in this thread.

@davidpmaurer It's funny that the alpha fantasy so often turns out to live in a plain old dad-bod body, isn't it?

@bruce Maybe that person was pointing to this:
"Federal government contractors are prohibited from making contributions or expenditures, or promising to make any such contribution or expenditure, to any political party, committee, or candidate for federal office, or to any person for any political purpose or use."

@bruce I very much agree. And the point really is to return women to a situation in which their only option is to remain at home and have children.

@Judeet99 Touché. Exactly so. Thanks for pointing out that central and very telling point.

@nf3xn I think probably that R. Reich is not in favor of eliminating others — as I'm not, either.

@Terypat It is hilarious, isn't it? And you're right: these "alpha" men are exemplars of high rationality? Reality? When they write in adolescent soundbytes reeking with the few emotions they can express, like rage?
-
@vruz Well-stated. I agree.

@Kierkegaanks Thank you for reminding me and others of his connection to Starlink and how dangerous that is.

@wdlindsy I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: too many men have convinced themselves that their feeling of being logical is the same as actually being logical, and that feeling is often just a failure to truly consider hypotheticals and a massive failure of empathy.

@wdlindsy to be clear, I was calling elon the dough boy. I would hate for anyone to confuse that.
-
@WhiteCatTamer That's extremely well-stated. I agree. In my own field of religious studies, there's been a lot of valuable commentary for some years by women scholars about the pretensions of males to own rationality, and how these pretensions mask and provide a vehicle for male control of women.
