@crashglasshouses Well, no. At least if you believe in Democracy. By respecting politicians, you're respecting your fellow citizens who appointed these men and women. In this particular case, Thierry Breton might have stepped over the line since he disrespected freedom of speech and U.S.'s sovereignty rights. In any case, that just shouldn't serve as an excuse for billionaires to insult political representatives. Their legitimacy is the legitimacy of a bully. Only Europeans can tell their politicians to F*%# off.

oh, so politicians don't require respect in Europe magically?
politicians are not owed respect, not even from billionaires. they are one and the same class, let them eat each other.
being appointed is not an accomplishment when you literally just spend your way to the top. voters are not owed respect for licking the boots of the ruling class.
if this fascist nonsense is what you call "democracy", then no, i do not respect democracy. -

@crashglasshouses I also don't believe in Representative Democracy. In any case, I hate Corporatocracy, which is the system that billionaires like Musk revere. Politicians don't own anything to entrepreneurs. As a matter of fact, most entrepreneurs (including Musk) would be nobodies if it wasn't for the money delivered by taxpayers by way of subsidies, tax exemptions, federal contracts, and grants. They live and breed public money and yet they dare to say they hate politicians and the State. Politicians are accountable to organized movements of voters, not to billionaires. But I guess Musk doesn't agree with that and secretly thinks that politicians should instead be accountable to billionaires like himself.
