@brook This is great, thank you for sharing!
A couple of questions:
- who are you hosting 348 GB of media delivered from a CDN for just $13/mo?
- what do your backups look like? Thereβs no DB replication is there? -
@mick everything is hosted with OVH... we don't use a CDN, media is served by the main server, which acts as a cache in front of S3 object storage.
This way -- since OVH server bandwidth is free, and region local traffic between server and S3 is also free -- we pay only for the cost of storage.
I use pgbackrest to keep an encrypted DB backup on S3 as well, which is copied daily to a second data center, and also a second provider (Backblaze). Local media files, config files, etc are backed up this way as well.

@brook fantastic, thanks again for sharing.
Are you purging remote media regularly?
-
@mick yep, I do
bin/tootctl media remove --days 7
daily, which is about 20GB per day, and
bin/tootctl preview_cards remove --days 90
weekly, which is around 15GB / week.

@brook When you say βS3β you mean OVHβs S3-compatible storage, as opposed to Amazon Web Services S3, correct?
