ABC7: Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy Program allows residents affordable energy source "... That's because of a new city solar energy program. Residents can now benefit from solar energy and Tesla power wall battery storage. It's free installation, with no credit check or no costs of owning the system. Some residents get a free wall charger for electric vehicles...." (NOTE: looks like just a "no out of pocket" solar install program, these folks end up paying a fixed maintenance fee + power costs + inflation... better to finance your own system, probably) https://abc7.com/post/solar-project-allows-pico-rivera-residents-affordable-energy-source/15275149/ #solarpower #solar #heatwave #CAwx #PicoRivera

Ah, not FREE... just free install. Those residents pay $115 a month + power costs + inflation.

@ai6yr
Most of the solar installation companies push Tesla products & outrageous prices (we got quoted $70k cash plus we were only allowed asphalt shingles on our roof, plus we could only keep the system for 30 years). Oh, and of course there "might" be up charges once they started the work. But they would be nice and finance it for us for "low monthly payments". I still need to find someone who can do a metal roof with rain collection & solar. -

@Laplantgenetics You only need an electrician and probably don't need to do paperwork if your solar power system is fully isolated from the grid.
You could probably have a 100 kWh/day, 100kWh battery reserve system installed for around $30k-$40k
Solar power systems are dead simple if you use off-the-shelf parts, like building a computer but with angrier pixies.
Definitely get an electrician tho
