Its not about lack of nuance but more about deliberately being a useful idiot because not everyone has the patience of someone like cowbee. Let me translate your example:
- Slavery is bad.
- Slavers say Dessalines is bad.
- Therefore Dessalines is good.
Now its 2025. Dessalines is long dead and we can safely say the free people of Haiti deserved a better leader. But back in the 1800s I'd back Dessalines to the hilt because I'm carrying absolutely zero water for slavers.

Genuinely don't understand what you mean. Go to Hexbear, grad, .ml, whatever, and ask everyone's opinions on Pol Pot. It's 99% going to be negative. Reddit, however, does have quite a few Gonzaloists on r/communism now, and Gonzaloists generally defend Pol Pot as well.

As I explained to another person, I have no phobias. Much like homophobic, the term would suggest I have an unreasonable fear. I am perhaps a bit claustrophobic. The LGBTQ community needs to attach a more accurate insult to people they want to dis.
