@kouhai @ireneista i've heard mixed reports on whether an appeal will ever get looked at by a human tbh

@ariadne Nice. I'm assuming distributed protocol? What form? Federated, confederated, etc

@khionu a few years ago, i designed a protocol called Rapunzel that describes mutations by an actor to a ring log. it is basically "activitypub meets kafka". most likely i will reuse that protocol as the basis.

@ariadne Was more wondering from the usage side, eg Mastodon is confederated because identities belong to instances, but Matrix is federated because identities are maintained separately.

@ariadne @win8linux this is really, really bad. Is there anyone with god account perms on the server right now? Ownerless servers get deleted after a grace period.

@khionu in rapunzel, actor identity is federated but specific ring logs are hosted on authoritative servers (you could imagine foo.example/rooms/bar for example).

@erincandescent @khionu also, matrix rooms are federated using a complex DAG which is problematic from both a security and reliability POV

@erincandescent @ariadne My understanding is that Identity Servers allow you to more easily change home servers?
