The reservoir of one of, if not THE Last Great Hydroelectric Dams built in North America, #SiteC in Northern BC, is being filled.

@chris
Spoiler alert: We already know it's a VERY bad idea. Dams are terrible for salmon, eels, and other migratory fish! Drowned vegetation also releases massive amounts of methane and CO2: From the article linked below: "Québec’s largest reservoir, Caniapiscau, has a carbon footprint double that of coal power: about 2,200g CO2-equivalent per kilowatt/hour."A “Climate solution”? Big Hydro Is Anything But | Watershed Sentinel
A growing body of peer-reviewed scientific evidence shows that large-scale hydro power is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions.

Did he die? I used to really appreciate Harold's wisdom. He did many good things in his life.

@ariaflame @sleepy62 @echanda the rights and title to the land of the indigenous First Nations people in the area who have never signed a treaty with Canada/BC were another huge part of the opposition.

@ariaflame @sleepy62 @echanda Ironically, the dam was built primarily to satisfy the wants of the LNG lobbyists who believed they could build an LNG industry with public support if the LNG conversion process was done with BC’s traditionally popular hydro based electricity. The first massive LNG plant will be online about a year after Site C.
