"After the June debate that so clearly exposed Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, news coverage questioning his competence to hold office for another term was seemingly never-ending, and for good reason.

@Judeet99 Public figures are public figures. To point to very obvious mental aberrations in someone running for high office is not to invade her/his privacy. It's to do due diligence as a practitioner precisely because that person has a large public presence that promises to affect large numbers of people.

@lolonurse @Huntn00 Oh, yes. Spend just a day in academic life and you'll encounter a world of folks like that.

@wdlindsy "Due diligence" could only be effectively done with a proper face to face assessment in the privacy of a psychiatrist's office in order to get the full picture. Anyone can make comments based solely on someone's public performance, be they psychiatrist or not.

@wdlindsy
Some of them are probably a touch embarrassed at being so transparent in their pandering, so are weaving in tiny bits of "truth" to appease some of their audience. But I don't think they'll go all the way. I believe they're greedy & scared. -

@wdlindsy Agreed, except that there never was a Biden 'cognitive decline' above or beyond normal aging. There was a loss of effective ability to communicate - a very different beast. Joe continues to be sharp as a razor - he just doesn't always manage to get the word out. Which is fatal in campaigning. But he continues to function as one of the best presidents ever.

@wdlindsy @lolonurse @Huntn00 Also, you said it right: 'have' degrees - for moneyed brats. Not quite the same as earned degrees.

@martinvermeer @lolonurse @Huntn00 As we can see from the biography of one Donald Trump (not to mention, say, George W. Bush), one can clearly have a degree, including from a prestigious institution, and not have done anything to earn it.

@martinvermeer Yes.

@lolonurse Greedy and scared sums it up well — and arrogant and, because arrogance produces this, stupid.

@wdlindsy @martinvermeer @lolonurse Word has it that Daddy bought Donny his degree…

@Judeet99 There's a world of difference between a clinical practitioner making a clinical diagnosis of a private patient, and a well-trained practitioner exercising public responsibilty by warning the public that a prominent public figure shows serious signs of mental deterioration.

@Huntn00 @martinvermeer @lolonurse That would not surprise me in the least. I honestly doubt the man can read at fourth-grade level.

I don't believe TFG actually went to, or earned a degree from Wharton (or anywhere). I think he (or daddy) gave a big donation for their silence about his claim. -

@wdlindsy Trump isn't the problem. The problem is those who're voting for him, supporting him and reporting favourably in the press about him. That's the problem that needs tackling.

@lolonurse @martinvermeer @Huntn00 I can't believe if he did go there and got a degree from them, he learned a blessed thing. I'm not convinced he can even read.

@Judeet99 Yes, I agree.

@wdlindsy Mental acuity aside, Trump was a completely incompetent President for 4 years.

@Seilenos Thank you. You’re absolutely right. A valuable point.
