Password reset doesn't work [v.0.7.0]

  • Now i'm getting support requests from a user, who want to reset his password. But he can't get mails... 😟

I tried the same with a new created testuser. I can confirm that problem

Which emailer are you using, and does sending a test email from the ACP work?

  • Have you tried to use another email address? For example here on Community forums temp-mail.org doesn't work for at least few hours and in the same time 10minutemail.com works fine (Mandrill app deliver mail successfully).

    Which emailer are you using,

The "emailer-local"-plugin. - The plugin now works (4278).

and does sending a test email from the ACP work?

Yes, the test works. And even the email subscription works, when getting a chat message.
    But not with the pass-reset-mail-request.

    Yes. 4 different adresses.

For example here on Community forums temp-mail.org doesn't work for at least few hours and in the same time 10minutemail.com works fine (Mandrill app deliver mail successfully).

I tried with 10minutemail and got also nothing.

  • Your topic has got Solved label. A bug in Q&A plugin?

Please check how it works on a new install and with your own account (or with a new user).

    I don't know.
The topic is not solved. The problem still exist.

I always check this twice. With two different forums on two separate machines. And it doesn't work with both installations.

  • Most of transactional email services (email sent per action only) offer some of monthly limits for free. So you can always try another plugin and use e.g. Mandrill.

This isn't problem. It's send via SMTP and there is no limit on this servers.

The test emails from within the ACP works.
    The email subscription works also.

But the request for password reset does not.

  • Thanks for a bug report. 🙂

  • @nhl.pl The only thing i can do. ☺

Does it work with a different emailer plugin? (Mandrill, mailgun, etc)

  • I went with the Mandrill plugin and it works great. They give you like 12,000 emails a month for free. It beats the heck out of running a mail server.

    Just my 2¢.

Using an external mail service isn't an option.

I tried it with mandrill for testing purposes.

    Result: Same problem.

    • The test emails from within the ACP works correct.
    • The request for password reset mails does not work.

Tested with a fresh installation from the latest Repo. Even with the Mandrill-service and the mandrill-plugin.

  • Same issue here, can't send password resets, it reports Invalid Email.

Tried using both Mailgun and Mandrill, with both tests emails work fine to my admin account.

  • Ok, so further testing indicates that it only happens on users that were created in 0.6.1(via an import from SMF) and new users work fine. I can fix it by blanking out the user's email and then putting back in the correct email.

(For clarification this is running on a pull from the 0.7.0 dev branch from yesterday)
