WhatsApp keeps asking me to allow it full access to my contacts, and I'm torn... it's supposed to be E2E Encrypted, but I don't really trust anything from Meta

@andycarolan Yeah, E2E encrypted doesn't mean "doesn't export your contacts back to Meta", unfortunately. That social graph data is worth a lot to them, and it's how they can extend that graph beyond the people who use WhatsApp

@grrrr_shark Yeah, I just don't trust them. Even though I've turned off all kinds of things in IG, it still knows where I am geographically somehow... even though I don't post there all that often either.

@globcoco I have things pretty locked down on my iPhone as far as third party app access goes. All WhatsApp does is keep bugging me about it lol.

@grrrr_shark It is! I like to stay safe as far as at least some privacy goes, but do miss posting on IG, and viewing friends posts, but all it delivers are adverts, sponsored posts and sadness.

@globcoco Yup, the iPad when paired with an Apple Pencil is surprisingly good for notes!

It may be my next buy. Right now with my level (far from yours, I am not a professional... I just use visuals to get the message accross, although I would like to improve myself), I get by with a Samsung s6 tabler, an alternative to Procreate called hipaint and a noteapp called Noteshelf. Sometimes I use Ibispaint...

@andycarolan I'm so glad @GrapheneOS has its contact scopes feature which dealt with that exact issue for me. It's mad WhatsApp can basically force you to give them your contacts like that - should be illegal imo.

I'm not familiar with those apps, but do occasionally use Procreate

@hypercube As I said, I just don't trust WhatsApp. It's annoying that so many people use it. I prefer to use Apple Messages, but it leaves out so many people. Although that said, the addition of RCS helps a bit. @GrapheneOS

The apps I use are mostly Adobe CC (Illustrator and Fresco), but also Procreate, and I did have a play with Linea, which is very nice and great to just jump into and sketch.
