I love stories like this, mostly because "riding across the country by train" is one of those things that I both desperately want to do and probably never will

When I am Commissar, this country will have better trains. Whether you like it or not

When I lived in DC I used to take Amtrak up to NYC once or twice a year on business. It was always such a nice journey. None of the security theater you have to deal with at an airport, nice comfortable seats with power outlets and WiFi, the view out the window as you roll into one of the world's great cities... I miss it.

@jalefkowit We used to take the Amtrak to Connecticut Labor Day weekend each year for Mr. Blue's fantasy draft. Then his friend moved to Omaha. Was just saying how I miss it.

@APBBlue In Ye Olden Days they used to run a "baseball train" from Union Station to Baltimore whenever the Orioles were playing at home. It dropped you right near Camden Yards, and then picked up for the run back after the game. The whole ride up and back was a big party.
Not sure if that's still A Thing or not, now that DC has its own ball club. Sigh

My goal is to be for trains what Enver Hoxha was for bunkers
