now that my wrist is mostly healed i took my e-scooter out for a bit today and i am definitely happy with my decision to get that instead of trying to continue maintaining a car
the area i'm in has pretty solid pedestrian/bike/etc infrastructure, lots of nice trails cutting between roads to get to the important places, and it's surprisingly quick to get around. and if i need to get farther than that i can take it on the metro -
i'm wearing more protective gear with it from now on, and i also learned how to avoid the mistake that resulted in the fall that hurt my wrist.
not particularly comfortable with the few areas where i don't have much of an option except to use the roads (these are always marked with signs notifying that bikes are to use the full lane; e-scooters are legally considered bikes here) so i will definitely be finding routes that avoid that -
@linear i always wear all the gear, all the time. my most recent fall happened when i was getting the mail (our mailbox is at the entrance to our neighborhood and we're waaaay in the back, it's a genuine hike to check the mail). i low-sided on some gravel
glad your healing up ^_^
