Alright fellow Canadians. What are your plans to follow the #USElection?
I don't have cable, so I might get snippets of CNN... what are the free choices out there to see results come in in Canada that isn't CBC or another Canadian network?
YouTube? NPR? Streaming Service?
Boost for sample size!
(Nothing against the Canadian networks, I'm just looking for something 'from the source' so to speak)

@chris
I'll suggest the PBS YouTube channel for watching U.S. election results. -

@chris i will be avoiding social media, RSS, and other news. Concentrating on work, photo processing, and writing.

@kboyd this is a healthy choice and I respect it very much! Part of me wishes for myself to do the same... but a larger part of me is just too damned curious/terrified/tunedin to avoid it!

The Guardian live blogs are often great for this kind of thing. They’ve been expanding their US coverage, especially with many new US subscribers since the WaPo didn’t issue an editorial opinion on the election.
You do have to create an account for more than a certain number of views per month, and there are limits if you don’t donate/subscribe but it’s not an aggressive paywall.
MSNBC and CNN will allow a certain amount of time for non subscribers on a browser view before bumping you.
Some of the US streamers have promoted election night coverage. Disney+ in Canada will be bringing ABC News coverage of the Election starting at 7 pm Eastern Time on November 5th. I expect Paramount+ will carry CBS News coverage.

@chris I will be watching on CBC. I have PBS (Over the air) as an alternative.

@chris I will be looking at the Youtube video dispensing machine for live feeds. There is no "Elections Canada " equivalent in the USA to collect and disseminate results, but Associated Press is the body designated by large news media to collect and distribute the raw data from each state.
Websites from CNN, ABC nd probably Faux news will likely have the better infographics/maps and counts direct from their systems which are fed by the AP data.

@[email protected] I'm thinking of compulsively reloading every news site on the internet for 24 hours straight.

@EdwinG over the Air! Nice. I am not in range of any of the OTA stuff now that they went digital! We were always on the periphery in Port Alberni

@chris The web sites allow you to check counties that are of interest to you. (For instance, Clinton County NY which borders Canada near Montréal would be of interest to me, it has been MAGA red).
Actual TV is mostly talking heads that speculate most of the time, with actual data for a couple minutes per hour. But once MAGA riots begin, they become realy important to cover them. Same with Trump's web site which will likely have a message to his cult calling then to arms.

@jfmezei oh gawd, No offense, but I hate this post so much for its realism.
Yes.

@chris I don't want to know until it's over. There's nothing I can do as it's happening, so why stress myself.

@chris Not Canadian but I also know that if I spend time fixating on early results I will rip my hair out. Therefore, I'll be watching the hockey and/or V for Vendetta and setting a timer for when to look. The AP does a pretty good tracker at https://apnews.com/projects/election-results-2024/ but that isn't video-based (if that's what you're looking for).

Canadians are eager to see how the results of the contentious U.S. presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will shape the next four years.
