I’m on a repeating cycle of build clean, change, build analyze this morning and really wishing the M4 Ultra was getting announced today.

@paul do we know if the M4 has that edge connector the m1 had? IIRC the m3 just didn’t.

@octothorpe I haven't seen anything but to me that's just an implementation detail. They did that for the M1/M2, doesn't mean they need it for the M4.

@paul it is an implementation detail, but a pretty important one as otherwise they’d need to create entirely different dies for a low-volume product. The edge connector allowed them to literally shove two normal m1s together and communicate at acceptable latency and speed.
In the Tim era, they tend to reuse tooling/components as much as possible.
But you’re right. Having it is a tell. Not having it means nothing.

@octothorpe they did do diff dies for the M3 Max right? So they could here too, or the M4 Max might have the connector on it. Don't care, just want it to ship!

@paul unclear. I was under the (false??) impression that the max/pro are ostensibly binned versions of the same chip.
