Okay #AskFedi , after affirming my love and desire to be here and ignore the other stuff, I want to consider using #peertube instead of YouTube.

As was already mentioned, it depends how you use it. If you are a creator or even uploading/migrating a lot of video it could be harder to find a server with sufficient upload allowances. However if you simply want to follow, comment and create playlists that's much easier and you could even host it yourself:)
@fedihost has a great starter hosting plan on sale now for $1/mth and 10g of storage🥰
<edit> seems like the sale is over:(

@lps @fedihost oh that's cool. Yeah. I wanna post an occasional how to Linux video that I'm sure will be *wildly* popular lol. And then watch some stuff.
Mostly just having a place to put some videos. Maybe I'll self host. I just fidnt know if there was a fossdoton equivalent.
But makes sense video if a different animal

@codemonkeymike @fedihost you might try https://spectra.video https://makertube.net or https://peertube.linuxrocks.online peertube instances _

@codemonkeymike I have my own instance running on my homelab server. Haven't really added much to it yet. Seems pretty powerful, though.

@tokenwizard yeah, the more I think about it, the more I just wanna spin one up for myself on NixOS in EC2 maybe.. could be fun!
