From my home to the place I need to be in 2 hours, there’s a quick route using public transport:
- Walk three minutes to the Metro station and take Line 1
- Get off after seven stops and change to Line 3 (or 5 or 9)
- Get off after one stop
- Walk two minutesNo maps app is providing this route. Not Google Maps, not Apple Maps, not HereWeGo, not Transit. They offer this:
- Walk three minutes to the Metro station and take Line 1
- Get off after seven stops
- Walk FIFTEEN minutesMuch longer.

“…But better for your health” — you might add in jest.
Heh heh. Okay, but map apps aren’t health apps. Supposedly they should provide you with the most efficient routes to get from A to B. I’m glad I learnt to plan routes and orient myself back when all you had were paper maps.

@morrick one of the things I’ve noticed about digital maps… i’ve never seen them overshoot. For example, they will tell you to get off at one exit and go all over the place, vs overshoot and take the following exit and backtrack 1/4 of the distance. This happens even in mixed-mode transportation directions as well (ie: public transit and walking).
