NeoDB Open Source Software

NeoDB UI is already available in English, but unlike Mastodon, it also has a catalog of books/movie/etc, and we have some improved localization capability upcoming.

If you are adventurous, dev instance https://eggplant.place is upgraded, the front page catalog is now mostly in English.

Obviously, since most existing users on flagship using Chinese, it may take a while to see more reviews in different languages.

And good news for those not ready to onboard a dev instance: @shlee mentioned he's working on an English instance, we'll hear more from them when that's ready. I really look forward to that!

btw If you feel like to contribute to UI translation for a language other than English and Chinese, feel free to submit a PR of gettext PO file (e.g. https://github.com/neodb-social/neodb/tree/main/locale )

Sorry for necro-ing, but I've just discovered this project and I'm in love with it, after years wondering if any similar platform existed and some weeks of desperate searches...
So: any update on the English instance? And any plan to support some non-coders-friendly tool for further contribution on translations (like Weblate)?
I have no resource to run a public instance, but the little I can I will surely send your way for christmas donations, meanwhile have my heartly thanks!

It is online (you can register), but I haven't launched it publically yet because I keep having small technical problems I need to sort out.

@shlee @neodb that's great thanks for sharing! Do you think it'll be ok for me to register despite those small problems? I'm in no way expecting to use it 24/7, I'm probably just building my db whenever I have some spare time, so if it's not the you-risk-to-loose-all-data kind of problems I'll gladly register asap

EDIT: + I'll try my best to report on issues and bugs if that's useful for development
