Following up on my last post about the #SurfApp, here's a more detailed note on how I'm using it, what benefits I see, and links to all of my custom feeds thus far.
To summarize said benefits...
Sharing: sharing our lists and carefully-curated feeds with one another is a known shortcoming of the current Fediverse platforms. Surf let's you build those feeds, and allows others to browse them and follow what's inside if they choose
Casual browsing: Wanna browse an interesting feed of artists without having to commit to following all of them? Want to catch up on news but not have to add all that negativity to your timeline? With Surf, you can casually browse curated feeds without junking up your timeline or ballooning your follows.
Content diversity: Can add all Fediverse-things, and more! YouTube, non-bridged Bluesky stuff, RSS feeds (without some janky fedi importer/converter), and more
Improved search: On a small instance that has terrible search/reach? Well now you have good search. Cool!
And this is just early beta. Excited to see what it can become. Oh and it's from Flipboard, who's proved they are super serious about the Fediverse.
Go read more in the post! Interested in your thoughts. Have you gotten into the beta? Anything you're seeing (good or bad) that I've missed?

@beardedtechguy @mike Yeah i saw it! Another cool thing about Surf is it looks like you can nest feeds. So you can create a big master infosec feed and add all of the other curated feeds from folks like you! (I'm guessing then the Surf app would do smart de-duplication of things that appear in multiple feeds).

@shellsharks @beardedtechguy Yes, exactly. We de-dup sources automatically.
