"Trump began the week by saying that his administration would be great for women’s reproductive rights.

@NeadReport May it be so.

@Huntn00 Well-noted and well-stated. As Mary Trump keeps telling the world, his father inflicted incredibly psychic damage on Trump, who keeps looking for a way to be important and recognized precisely because at some deep level he was broken in childhood.

@glennsills I don't think he would abandon them, though. I don't think he has any commitment at all to an anti-abortion position, but he does have a strong commitment to misogyny, and ripping away abortion rights is all about controlling women and putting them back into "their places."

@bouriquet Yes. We must not let ourselves take our eyes away from Project 2025, which is in essence the Republican party platform this election cycle.

@wdlindsy I love how the news is all about what Trump has said he will or won't do.
He's a liar. Nothing he says has any bearing on what will actually happen, but here we STILL are in 2024 pretending that man's words have meaning.

@wdlindsy It does help when you’re the master of blather and the narcissist of nonsense.
IOW, never believe anything that comes from that pus bag. -

@liquor_american And yet, we have no choice except to pay attention, because he poses a singular danger to the world, and it's very unwise to ignore a danger.

@wdlindsy The last thing I'm suggesting is ignoring the guy. I'm saying it's long past time for news organizations to stop pretending as though we can believe anything he says. It's insulting and dangerous.

@liquor_american Thanks for explaining your point. I'm sorry I misunderstood it. I very much agree with what you say here.

@wdlindsy Glad I could clarify. As with any habitual liar, we'd be wise to look almost exclusively at what he *does* because what he says is (to put it generously) unreliable.
The only real exception I can think of is when he does his stochastic terrorism schtick where he dances right up to the edge of calling for violence. I'd love news organizations to report more on that and less on the stuff that we can easily dismiss as deception. For some reason that's not where they're looking, though, even after all we've seen.

@liquor_american "As with any habitual liar, we'd be wise to look almost exclusively at what he *does* because what he says is (to put it generously) unreliable." Excellent. That's absolutely right. Puts me in mind of Maya Angelou's much-cited observation that when people show us who they are, we should believe them the first time.
