I tend not to share a great deal of personal news here, since I spend my time here largely sharing excerpts from material I'm reading daily that I hope may be of interest to others.

@CelloMomOnCars Thank you. Trying to walk through the period of grief with some composure, even as the mourning leaves me with the feeling that all my nerves are exposed on the surface of my skin. as grief tends to do.

@aprilfollies Thank you. Yes, I'm so glad that my husband and I thought to visit her that day, never dreaming what was taking place and that she'd die soon after our visit. I wish there had been more ways to take leave, but she was unable to speak on this last hospital visit and I can understand.

@LaNaehForaday Thank you for saying that. Yes, I'm glad I felt an impulse not just to say goodbye (not knowing it was a final goodbye), but to reach out and pat her knee. I tell myself that meant something important to her. I hope so! It's hard to think that she knew at that time that she was facing death and had chosen to do that by having her oxygen support removed.

@wdlindsy
A moment of connection and care always has value, probably even more than you know. So glad you had that moment before she left. -

@wdlindsy Love is so powerful, it can be felt in a touch, seen in a look and heard in a word. We all face that day and you were there in it, with her. It matters. ️
