I tend not to share a great deal of personal news here, since I spend my time here largely sharing excerpts from material I'm reading daily that I hope may be of interest to others.

@wdlindsy What a hard thing! And of course it is weighing on you. Being off kilter for a while is the right thing; it's evidence of your good relationship with Mary.

Iβm sorry for your loss, especially since saying goodbye without you knowing must be a heart-wrenching memory; but she knew you cared & thatβs why she let you leave.

@emergentnexus Thank you. I'm very grateful to you. Yes, a deep loss, a friend of many years, and the added shock of visiting her not within an hour or so of her death and not knowing at that time that she had planned to have oxygen support removed.

@bronakins Thank you so much. Yes, I'm glad I was able to express my leave-taking by patting her on the knee and telling her I loved her, not knowing at the time that she had made plans to have oxygen support removed. She couldn't talk to say goodbye to me in any case, and I suspect she was just totally exhausted and didn't want to try to communicate about that horrendous decision β and I totally understand. Still, much sadness.

@CelloMomOnCars Thank you. Trying to walk through the period of grief with some composure, even as the mourning leaves me with the feeling that all my nerves are exposed on the surface of my skin. as grief tends to do.
