Using NodeDB need Redis also?

General Discussion

    I am using nodeDB as backend, but the log file says:

    3/12 04:18 [3306] - info: Enabling 'trust proxy'
    3/12 04:18 [3306] - warn: [] Clustering detected, you are advised to configure Redis as a websocket store.

    I am using the latest master branch and there is no way to add redis only for Socket.IO

    Well, I add the redis settings and warning message goes off. This is my config.json. Tell me if this is correct:

    # cat config.json
        "port": ["xxxx0", "xxxx1"],
        "secret": "xxxxxxxx-7d4e-43c6-8b08-14403552b592",
        "database": "mongo",
        "mongo": {
            "host": "",
            "port": "27017",
            "username": "xxx",
            "password": "xxx",
            "database": "xxx"
        "redis": {
            "host": "",
            "port": "6379",
            "username": "",
            "password": "",
            "database": "0"
        "url": ""

    have the same issue, do I need redis if I use mongo?

  • GNU/Linux

    @Artem-Alekseev No, you don't -- if Mongo is your primary data store, you don't need Redis, but NodeBB can use Redis for transient data (e.g. sessions, etc) if you have it set up in config.json
