An idea I recently had when hearing about the KDE donation notification:
Given the rising popularity of Linux on desktop, it would make sense to create a Donation Portal. Could work somewhat like this:
> You're selecting an amount of money you're able to spend (either monthly of one-time).
> The portal looks up your installed apps and adds them to a list
> User can edit the list (add, remove, add weights)
> Finalizing causes a payment to a non-profit org who forwards the donos to the projects -

Obviously there is a metric amount of questions (like privacy, security, how the projects register for this, all the non-profit org szuff etc). Generally I'd very much welcome something like this however, it has to be way easier to donate to the open-source community as a whole. Especially all of the thousands of projects that make up a FOSS desktop computer!
