@jstatepost Astonishing, isn't it?
-
@MikeBon Yes — a lie that has now gone worldwide based on vapid hearsay that has no basis in reality.
-
@jodmentum It's disturbing how quickly many of us can be manipulated (or manipulate ourselves) into blaming some hapless scapegoat group for very real problems that are being inflicted on them by economic elites.

Yes. Exactly. It's a demonstration of power to make sycophantic supporters go along with obvious nonsense and lies. It's like a mafia or cult test of unquestioning loyalty. Whatever the dear leader says must by definition be true, no matter how absurd.

@jaycee No, to give up the struggle against inhumane behavior is to forfeit our own humanity. We can't do that to ourselves.

@DoesntExist Yes. A very good point and very well-stated.

@wdlindsy
We have to be a little careful about saying 'humans wouldn't eat' dogs. The practice has greatly diminished due to global awareness, but there were groups of very human people throughout Asia who did raise dogs for food. Probably other places as well, but I don't know that for certain. And I don't know about cats as a source of food. People eat Guinea pigs, rabbits, horses... it's horrifying to me, but not to everyone... -

@wdlindsy What kind of person is his wife, who knows her husband is lying to fan racist flames that, via Loomer, are already reaching out for her, and she fine with it, for the chance to have power?

Why doesn't anyone ask him how he feels about his mother having been a poor immigrant, and all 3 of his wives being immigrants? -

@wdlindsy the artist talks about how the image was inspired by Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes (which I knew because SF writer, but most people may not)—it was a collection about an evil circus ringmaster who conned people into the circus and abused them (with supernatural elements). Really is the perfect call back for what Trump is doing.

@susankayequinn Thank you for that helpful information. I remember Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes, which I must have read soon after it came out, and which made a deep impression on my young teen self.

@lolonurse I didn't make that comment. Paul Waldman did.
