Oh great.

Oh great. Krystal hosting, through whom I keep my domains, has just unilaterally killed my DNS records, saying I don't have a hosting account with them. They've doubled their prices recently and are now just trouble.
Not sure how to resolve (no pun intended) this one. No email, no access to websites, xmpp, etc.
They seem to have an alternative way of managing DNS records, but haven't enabled it. It's all pretty pathetic.
Guess what I'll be doing today. -
@withaveeay This is unexpected as I, too, hold (held?) them in high regard.
They just got a new CEO, maybe worth reaching out to him?
-
@bloor They've gone downhill really fast. No idea even how to phone them, unless it's a sales call. They have at least responded, so I'll see what reply I get in the next half hour.
I'll be coming back here in a while to ask for recommendations for domain registrars, though. -

@withaveeay @srtcd424 @beasts @aaisp even though I am GM of A&A I’d still recommend Mythic for hosting/domain needs.
A&A does do these things, for sure, but not to the extent mythic does. OTOH if it’s broadband you are looking for, roll up roll up etc
-
@bloor @srtcd424 @beasts @aaisp On a recommendation like that, who am I to quibble?
Re the second part, careful, as I'll scare you with a request, and when you see where we are, on an ancient and barely functioning Openreach platform, and the cost to you of providing service, (it's one of those "we can charge resellers extra" exchanges) you'll probably run a mile! -
@withaveeay @srtcd424 @beasts @aaisp our hosting, generalising slightly, is mostly for customers with quite simple websites; php, python, sql etc are all things our hosting doesn’t support. We are a fit for quite a few customers but I’m guessing you want “full hosting” and that’s Mythic’s wheelhouse

Will have to be patient while waiting for the DNS records to propagate, but in the meantime, I got off a snottogram about how Krystal were going downhill regarding service, while also thanking the technician for resolving the cock-up very quickly.
He's sent my fury up the food chain anyway, and probably recognises they were to blame, as they've credited an account I have no intention of using again with ÂŁ20.
