Performance issues today

Is it just me, or was this forum unusually slow today? Normally things like looking at notifications are pretty snappy but today was taking a long time. Even posting messages was sometimes not working for me, and when it did it would take several seconds to post. Is this a known issue and if so is it an issue with code or the server?
