Hey, synth curious friends!

Hey, synth curious friends! I am getting ready to start a little blog series on synthesis and sound design, starting from the very basics. So, my question to you, is what have you always wanted to know about synthesis/sound design but been afraid to ask? (Or not afraid, but didn't know where to ask)
No question too basic! As a matter of fact, it's the very basic stuff that people don't understand that is most useful. I've been doing this stuff for so long, I have no idea what people don't know!

Hi! FM/Phase distortion synthesis has always confused me. I’m told that the FM on the Yamaha DX7 was not true FM. I’d be interested in understanding what the difference is between true FM and Phase Distortion (also called FM). It would be nice to explain how to synthesize in these two methods and how to tell them apart.

@ercanbrack @etherdiver I'd second that. I had a Casio CZ101 and it (via phase distortion) was way easier to grasp creating sounds compared to Yamaha's FM synthesis.
Always been interested in granular synthesis too. Looking forward to your explorations
