@stevelord @mos_8502 I never directly used it. When I did *nix type stuff in that era* from windows, it was through Citrix or cygwin.
To be clear, Microsoft didn't really market it and it was primarily a niche sales pitch checkbox item for edge cases. They quietly dropped it by the time XP landed. WSL2 is far more advanced and useful than the old POSIX subsystem was.
*I also used some special purpose qnx, minix, and Solaris machines in my dayjob.
