100%. This is all abuser patterns at societal scale, up and down the festering line. -
@inthehands As on #Jan6, it is law enforcement that needs to deal with their violence. Street brawls play into their hands.

I don’t trust LE to handle this unsupervised, especially local police, since so many of them are themselves outright fascists. I’m hopeful that we have better security planning this time that we did in 2020, that the people working security are actually vetted, and that we have a population ready to march in the streets in support of democracy if necessary. But truly, I don’t know what to expect or how to handle it. -
@inthehands @StillIRise1963 I said it before, I’ll say it again. If this election gets fucky and these courts try to step in, we strike.

@ccdudley85 @inthehands Sadly, it's not that easy, a shocking portion of law enforcement members hold a MAGA worldview, just look at the police reactions to BLM protests vs Jan 6 or Charlottesville. The realist in us tells us that anti-MAGA people will be on our own if it kicks off again. Luckily, a large portion of active and retired servicemembers are anti-MAGA

@strangeculprits @inthehands I suppose that if law enforcement fails their oath to defend the Constitution, we'll muster out to do their job for them. But they deserve the opportunity to do the job they signed up for and not to have to deal with a counter protest. Local governments asked activists to stay home on #Jan6 and that was the right call.

It would start with Women’s March style mass protests. General strike would be the next step, I think. -
@ccdudley85 @strangeculprits
Both. I live near the epicenter of the George Floyd uprising; ask me about “letting LE do their job.” My answer will be that they •started• the uprising.But I do have some hope that local police are not cut from the same cloth as, say, National Guard.

I’m retired but I’ll find a picket line or protest to join! -

It’s just a drop in the bucket, but if we get to the point of mass protest against a coup attempt, I’m ready to cancel class.But first…first we have to win the election.

@inthehands in France, even the anarchist went voting to avoid an extrem right government that was seen "as sure as done"
Hope is a moving verb.
