Until very recently (like last week), our major news organizations downplayed what a fascist government would do. They've quoted Trump rather than explaining what he plans.
One of my post-election goals, no matter what happens, is to do what I can to replace Big Journalism, from the ground up, with the real thing.

Thank you for this observation Dan. This has been the most perplexing thing. The United States is a hugely complicated system and running it is one of the most difficult undertakings imaginable. We saw what happened when it was left poorly tended during the first Trump Administration, but journalism brings no scrutiny to bear as we contemplate leaping off a cliff into the radical unknown. It is so irresponsible that it is a criminal dereliction of duty. Has everyone gone crazy?

Maybe it's their enthusiasm for spicey content and the prospect of the greatest nation in the world going down in flames is just too tempting a morsel for these adrenalin news junkies. The thing that is most amazing is the complete lack of conscience. These people are smart enough to know the dangers they are playing with, and they don't care. They just want to watch it burn.
