Bluesky and Mastodon users can now talk to each other with Bridgy Fed | TechCrunch
Bridgy Fed is one of the efforts aimed at connecting the fediverse with the web, Bluesky and, perhaps later, other networks like Nostr.

Oh well.
Interestingly, a switch to opt-out is being considered.

Switch Bluesky to opt out? Β· Issue #1471 Β· snarfed/bridgy-fed
Not actually planned yet, but lots of people regularly request it, so I want a place to capture some of the discussion and ideas. Norms on Bluesky are different from the fediverse in this regard. Also, unlike the fediverse, Bluesky is a ...

Someone should make a "cool bridged fediverse accounts to follow" starter packs.

@stefan I'm glad an opt-in is considered. Finally I would say! The sooner the better.
-
@stefan the bridge account isn't searchable for me
-
@noirlover Yeah, your admin likely blocked the Bridgy Fed server, you will have to reach out to them and ask.

@collectifission I have mixed feelings about that, to be honest.
I was a strong proponent of the bridge being opt-in for fediverse users, and can't really go back on that just because it would be more convenient for me.
-
Can a few people share their bridged usernames to try this out?
You can follow @bsky.brid.gy to get started.
(Unless your server's admin blocked the bridge.)
-
@stefan Everybody's username is the same, in the sense that it follows the same pattern: @fediverse.username.fediverse.instance.ap.brid.gy
Mine is @jorgecandeias.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy for instance.
-
@jorgecandeias Right, I just didn't want to add a bunch of unsuspecting people to my test starter pack.
I take it as I have your permission?
-
@stefan Ah. I see.
I would take some grains of salt with my account being "cool", but sure, why not?
-
@jorgecandeias Hah, well, either way, thank you, I appreciate it!
-
-
@atthenius Thank you! I don't think your account is bridged yet, have you followed @bsky.brid.gy?
-
@[email protected] @[email protected] Mine is
@fedi.ufal.my.id
, because few weeks ago we can use custom domain for the bridged account. I also don't really want to use that previous long handle. -
Yes - but you are right it doesnβt seem to be working.
-
@ufal @jorgecandeias Interestingly, the custom username didn't come up, but the bridged one did.
Either way, thank you!
-
Alright, here's a proof of concept: A starter pack of bridged fediverse accounts you can follow on Bluesky.
Seems to be working?
I don't really intend to keep this updated, but feel free to borrow the idea!
-
@stefan @bsky.brid.gy not that I want to be a curator, but here: https://go.bsky.app/7Jur7Mz
-
@stefan oh, ha, you beat me to it by a minute
-
@thisismissem Hah, well I also don't intend to maintain this.
But happy to have someone run with the idea.
