Today’s Shopify irritation: I send stickers with a plain old $0.73 stamp, but my art prints require more expensive shipping if I want to ensure they don’t get creased in transit.

@molly0xfff Surely someone can come up with a filter or something? It's open source software I think?
-
@josgeluk i was perfectly happy to write some code to do this for me, but in order to set custom shipping rates you have to buy the expensive plan!
-
@molly0xfff Do you mean in terms of the shipping price shown for customer at checkout? Or when you are ready to buy a shipping label?
-
@molly0xfff @josgeluk you might not need the custom shipping rates functionality for this. Maybe you can do a work around with a discount. I have tinkered around with custom Shopify apps a bit in the past years. If you want I can have a look and see if there’s a custom code solution without needing to upgrade your Shopify plan. Hard to say without more info. Feel free to send me a more detailed description to [email protected]

@jerome the former

@molly0xfff Unfortunately, this is the problem with every standard software. They lock you in with their basic plan but most businesses have more sophisticated requirements.
-
-
@molly0xfff @josgeluk so the issue is that if somebody orders both products, they get the summed shipping price?
-
-
@molly0xfff One thing you could do is use Shipping Profile, and put the sticker as $0 shipping. Then the art print as $10 shipping (whatever the cost is). If someone orders both, they still pay $10 and you put them together in the box.

@molly0xfff
I have no idea how any of this works, but couldn't you create SKUs that are "1 print and 3 stickers", in a bunch of permutations? -
@jerome problem there is if someone orders just stickers, i eat the cost of stamps
