@chris Interesting. I just tried it and both worked for me. I wonder if they changed something since yesterday or if something else is occurring. Either way, I do plan to move on from Instragram and Facebook soon.

I thought that sounded crazy, and then I looked for the #Democrat tag on Instagram. It's been completely suppressed.

If you look for the #Republican tag, you'll see several thousand entries.

@annaf I would recommend checking with others. There seems to be more people reporting that it is working properly now. But still lots with the same problem. So it may be evolving.

@chris It just goes to show how little anyone should trust Meta.

I was hanging out with my partner’s daughter yesterday. She spent a bit of time flicking through reels and I was dismayed that several were pretty anti-trans coded. I had a chat with my partner, who said she noticed the same thing and was trying to encourage her daughter to reset her algorithm. I both fear the rabbit hole ahead if she doesn’t and the likelihood she’ll just keep seeing that kind of shit even if she does.

@chris I’m in the U.S. I have the same result you describe. “Republican(s)” returns multiple results. “Democrat” only returns a hashtag for “démocratie.” “Democrats” returns nothing.

@chris I'm in the US and saw this today on IG, checked for myself and it is true for me. However when I click on republican, I get videos trashing them if that helps. But I'm making the switch to Mastodon, trying to learn it, Bluesky and I am done with those apps!
