Northern hemisphere joke?

"inhospitably cold" doesn't work for the joke, because it is not common between black holes or January. For one, January isn't cold for everyone on Earth. It's in the middle of summer for the entire Southern hemisphere, for example. And two, black holes, specifically the accretion disk surrounding them, are extremely hot due friction and relativistic speeds.

“inhospitably cold” doesn’t work for the joke,
This is a comic. It is not a peer-reviewed science article.
The joke works - you're just over-analyzing it and doing a common "well, actually" to try to tear it down and show everyone that you have some nugget of knowledge. There's nothing wrong with the joke - it's a webcomic, it doesn't have to be 100% factually true in every known universal case...if comics/humor had to do that then they wouldn't be funny. -

Nah, it's on the 20th, so slightly longer.
Then we'll see of the day one promises come true.

I mean, he's a known liar, and a greedy selfish bastard, so none of his promises will be delivered. But I'm sure he has a bunch of worse stuff planned to benefit him personally.
