This has been my position for a while.
They are useful concepts on paper and are a useful framework to think about and frame certain issues around, but in practice they create more smoke than heat and are too easily misunderstood. Especially when used as in-language by groups that may not have the same understanding of the terms in question.
Not to mention the problem with "effect" vs. "affect" but that may just be a me problem
