@chris We 'never' take Horseshoe Bay-Nanaimo to get back to the Island, so many bad experienced at that horrid terminal. We tend to go Nana-Horse but return Tsawassan-Duke, life is much pleasanter that way.

@jws I like HS Bay. And usually we are walking/taking transit on the vancouver side so it’s by far the better option. Duke Point is a longer trek back to PA on top of the longer sailing. But it worked out better today!

Ooo! Just coming around Gabriola Island, past the blinking lighthouse, and in the inky darkness in the distance, just above the Islands, we could see fireworks! Impossible to get a clear picture through the window glare. Fun.
Almost back to the Island. A relaxing boat ride. Ferry was barely half full. Quiet. The lights of Nanaimo’s harbour are coming into view. Ready to be on the final leg home.

@chris The company you keep on the ferry has a pretty direct effect on the relaxation factor, some of that being the company you don't keep, because a bunch of crowding, boisterrous and noisesome travelling louts.
