@davemark while the explicit number is kinda new, they’ve ostensibly been doing this at least since I was there in the 80s/90s. If you got in, they were gonna make sure that tuition wasn’t a barrier.

@octothorpe @davemark Untrue. My friend got in, but her family couldn't afford it, so she had to go to Minnesota. I got into Cornell, but my family couldn't afford it, so I had to go to Wisconsin. This was the 80s/90s.

@lapcatsoftware @davemark I can’t speak for your friend’s specific circumstance, I and at least five friends I had there were able to attend due to their accommodations.
